Supervised Access

About Supervised Access

Sometimes, parents or caregivers are legally required to be observed while having a visit with their children. Often this is in the context of allegations of abuse, violence, substance abuse or allegations of inappropriate content or language. Supervised Access acts as the bridge – and also as a safety net – to address concerns regarding the well being of children yet still allowing families to connect while legal matters get sorted.

While Provincial supervised access centres exist, it typically takes a long time to obtain service and everyone suffers in the meantime. The Inclusive Family offers an alternative

Most clients use this service on a short-term basis while parents, including non-custodial parents, await a court order for access or resolution of other issues affecting access.

Types of Supervised Access services provided by The Inclusive Family include:

  • Supervised visits in a neutral zone

  • Supervised pick up and drop off

  • The setting up of visits when release conditions or court orders include a no contact order between the parties.

For long-term supervised access requirements The Inclusive Family works with social work and social service worker students to provide supervision in the community.
